"Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving. At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ...that I may make it clear, which is how I ought to speak." Colossians 4:2-6
As I sat in my car on Park Avenue, my typical 10 minute drive was quickly passing the 30 minute mark. Getting stuck in traffic is never a fun thing, but despite my frustration, it is actually quite hopeful. More traffic means the students are back on campus and the opportunities we have to share the gospel at this critical point skyrocket.
Read below for just a few things that have already happened during the first weeks of the semester at Penn State!
Before the semester started, our student leaders gathered together to pray for the upcoming year and prepare for outreach during the first week of the semester.
Hundreds of students flocked to Penn State's Involvement Fair where every club is represented. Our staff met MANY of those students and have been inviting them to various Bible studies so that they might hear the gospel preached & have a relationship with Christ!
I'll be helping to lead Gospel Group again as the sophomore students learn how to deeply study the Bible. These are a just a few of the students involved this year. After our first meeting this week, I'm hopeful and excited to see them gain a love for the scriptures!
We had a pizza party night to invite new students to our upcoming First Year Group that will be exploring "Life's Biggest Questions" like “What is the purpose of life?” or “Where does morality come from?” or “How can a good God allow suffering?”. Many stayed to just play games until dark!
From the first Friday night large group meeting to tailgating fun for the first Penn State game of the season, we've been able to connect with so many students and engage them in community! I'm excited to see how the Lord will grow the students who are already deeply involved, and how He will work in those who may not know Him yet!
That's what's happening on campus! Meanwhile, in the headquarters off, our annual Fall Conference is quickly approaching! For a whole weekend (October 25-17th), over 450 students will gather together for rich teaching on The Trinity! My co-worker, Kaitlyn, and I are busy planning all the details of this event over the next few weeks. I can't wait to tell you what the Lord has done at the end of October!
Prayers & Praises
Pray over each of the above pictures:
for our student leaders, that they would grow and be trained up in Christ this year to lead our younger students. Pray also for the seniors that this year would equip them for life post-college.
that we may see much fruit from the seeds planted during our outreach efforts over the past 2 weeks.
for the new students at Penn State and at other campuses across the state. Pray that they would step out in faith to connect with the various Bible Studies and events. Pray that their hearts would be softened to hear the gospel preached.
for the community of students to be strengthened, ultimately rooted and united in Christ.
Pray for Fall Conference. Pray for the teachers as they prepare, that the Lord would give them the words He has to share. Pray for the students to already consider choosing this weekend over countless other activities. Pray for me and our other event planning staff as we work hard to prepare many details.
Thank you, dear friends, for your partnership in the gospel!
Your support - whether prayer, financial, or other - is greatly appreciated and makes it possible for us to continue reaching the next generation for Christ!
