Meet Jesus, Share Jesus

The Lord is at work on the college campus and beyond!                                                                 View this email in your browser

"Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations"
Matthew 28:19

How do you meet up with Jesus? What does that look like? How did Jesus meet people in his time? Who did he meet? What can we learn from Jesus's interactions with people? Right after the school year ended and before they headed home for the summer, over 200 students joined us to find the answers to these questions.
Check out the highlight reel from the week!
Each day, we would all gather together to learn from the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke & John) as we explored more of how Christ entered into others' lives and gave them life through his own sacrifice on the cross. Each talk always pointed right back to the gospel! This was definitely clear as there were at least 7 students who became Christians at Focus! Praise God

Students also had the opportunity to attend numerous breakout sessions that equipped and spurred them on to share the life changing message of the gospel, just as Christ did. One of my favorites from the week was "Reading the Bible with Non-Christians" which gave a really helpful perspective on what it's like to read the Bible for the first time and how we can help others understand. You can listen to that talk for yourself, along with many of the others online at the link below!
Listen to the teaching!

What two students had to say about Focus:

  • "God really reaffirmed and showed me in a fresh way his goodness, his love, and his power. There are no limits to what he was and is willing to do for us. It also excited me and spurred me on to proclaiming the gospel but relying on the power of Jesus to raise up those who are dead in their trespasses and bring them to new life in Christ Jesus. I’ve never been more motivated to learn, pray, or spread the gospel for His glory. PRAISE GOD!"

  • "God really did me a huge favor by bringing me to Focus. I was able to learn so much and grow significantly in just one week. I was able to build upon my relationship with Him through main sessions, prayer, friends, conversation, and most importantly through time alone with Him. I was reminded just how good God is and was able to finally feel the weight of his love."
On Wednesday evening, we invited 2 spoken word artists to come and perform some of their gospel inspired pieces. During their performances, my coworker, Tori (left), interviewed both Chris Webb (center) and Josh Surita (right) about how they use the arts in evangelism. You can check out more of their pieces on Instagram at these links:

Prayers & Praises
  • Praise God for Focus and the 7 students who gave their lives to Christ! Pray that they would continue to seek the Lord, connect with local churches, and grow in their faith.
  • Pray for the other students from all our fellowships that this summer they would continue to grow in the Lord, share the gospel, and find rest before another busy school year in the fall.
  • Pray for me that I might use my time in the summer well to wisely prepare for the upcoming busy fall. Pray that even with many unknowns I face over the next couple months, that I would rely on the Lord and trust in His sovereignty.
Thank you, dear friends, for your partnership in the gospel!

Your support - whether prayer, financial, or other - is greatly appreciated and makes it possible for us to continue reaching the next generation for Christ!

With love in Christ,

Kate Wetzel
