Payroll Overhaul, Sunday Night Worship,
and Summer Interns

Payroll Overhaul
One of the goals at the headquarters of DiscipleMakers is to streamline administrative processes so that our staff on the campus can devote as much time as possible to their ministry to the students. With that goal in mind, we switched to a new payroll provider that integrates nicely with our newly installed HR system. The new system provides our staff with self service access to payroll related things, such a withholdings and other deductions, but it also taught us that our way of handling tax localities was out of date. 1 Peter 2:13-15 tells us to “Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good.  For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people.” We worked to figure out what is the correct way to handle taxing localities so that we remain legal and above reproach.
Sunday Night Worship
Every Sunday night I lead a group of students in worshiping God. We usually start off by reading a Psalm: exploring who the characters are, what it teaches us about God, and how it points to Jesus. I have encouraged some of the students to lead this quick devotion as we prepare our hearts and are reminded what worship is about. Then we spend the next couple hours singing to the Lord. We all take turns picking which worship song to sing next and sometimes a student will lead. I love watching students step up and lead their peers in worship!
Summer Internship
For this year’s summer internship we (Systems Department) have the opportunity to work with a young man named Sam (pictured above, center). He is a Computer Science major at Penn State Harrisburg and has a lot of zeal for the Lord. The internship is a great time for recruitment into the mission field and for discipleship. I am excited to work alongside Sam as he investigates what it looks like to use his major to further God’s Kingdom and to invest in him spiritually as well. My hope is that he can bring what he has learned during the summer back to his campus to encourage his peers and make disciples of Jesus.

Ways You Can Be Praying

  • Please pray for “G”, the student I have been discipling this year. He has hit some rough patches and has made the decision to withdraw from the rest of the semester. Please pray for conversations with his parents as he explains to them his decision and reasoning.
  • Please pray for the upcoming internship, that it will be fruitful and God is glorified.
  • Please pray for me as I am in the process of getting a new roommate.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. If there are any ways that I can be praying for you, please let me know!

In Christ,
TJ Renninger
